I host The Week Unwrapped, the weekly spinoff podcast from news magazine The Week - a periodical to which I had long subscribed before they approached me to present the show!

Each episode, myself and three clever bods from The Week's digital team debate the three ‘biggest’ stories of the past seven days. The gimmick is, we reject the news that has been generating the most headlines, and focus instead on hidden gems you might have missed in the mainstream media, yet which have huge repercussions for all our lives.

For example, in the week President Trump was inaugurated, we discussed what Xi Jinping had been saying at Davos... and instead of focussing on the Brexit vote in the House of Commons, we turned our gaze to the rapid rise of French Presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron (very presciently, as it turned out). It's a fun and fascinating process, and I’ve even learned a little along the way.

(... Oh, and it's not all politics, either, in case you think that sounds boring! We cover the same broad range of areas you'd find in The Week's magazine and website, from sport to food, from theatre to property prices. And sometimes we welcome special guests too, such as Dr Adam Rutherford and Edith Bowman).
